Upcycled Headboard

I have been to a local garage sale (twice) because this family is selling everything and moving south. The last time I was there we were able to go through the house to look at furniture and I spotted this sweet upcycled headboard (which was not for sale). I just wanted you to see the beauty that was recreated from a cast off.

I love simple.

Thanks for stopping by!!

CandyLand Prom Theme

Hi There!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was very busy with Mother's Day and our son's prom. I wanted to show you the prom pictures showcasing the scenes from CandyLand. Of course I particularly enjoyed the theme since I am a preschool director. Luckily, our preschool will be able to borrow some of the props at some point. I just love the creative talents that go into making this a special night!

Don't you think thrifty and creative creations are the best??!! Do you remember Your prom theme? I remember one of mine was Stairway to Heaven. Straight from the 70's!!

Quick Tip: Birds Nest Furniture

Happy Weekend!

I just love it when folks contact me about new discoveries.
My niece just told me about a shop in Canton, Ohio called  The Birds Nest Furniture. Check out their website www.birdsnestfurniture.com  and on Facebook. They carry furniture from Arhaus, IKEA and other major brands as well as cool upcycled pieces. The back story on this is a real estate agent had an opportunity to buy some furniture from a couple of clients when they sold their houses. When she couldn't fit her car in the garage anymore she thought people might be interested in purchasing some good quality furniture at rock bottom prices so she opened her shop. It looks eclectic and interesting.

Sounds like a great road trip ??!!

Bed Bath and Beyond - The All White Bath

Hello and and Happy Sunday!

I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed some outside activities. We attended the Rural Society Antique and Garden Show on Friday and it was fantastic! ( I will post about that later this week.) We also finished  putting together the guest bathroom and attended a huge choir show for Scott. Whew!

Today is a continuation of the Bed Bath and Beyond post with the upstairs bath of the Murray home featured. The all white bathroom is warmed by a variety of textures including tile, wood, metal, fluffy terry cloth towels, heavy cotton shower curtain and the sweetest little glass light. Highlights include the various ways she stores towels including a chippy vintage stool,  the white washed basket hanging from a peg board and the white metal basket with hand towels and wash cloths. This is a dreamy white bathroom that I am sure you will enjoy!

I love little lights in bathrooms!

Great box designed for the top of the counter.

 Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings-

Bed Bath and Beyond

The Bed
I am going to share with you the second upstairs bedroom of the Murray home. The beds are about 100 years old and Linda saved them from the burn pile of her grandparent's estate many years ago when no one was interested in them. The table between the two beds was designed by her and a local carpenter built it. It really is a beautiful mix of old and new.

The next two posts will be the bath and beyond......stay tuned!!

May Days are Fun Days

I just wanted to remind you about the upcoming junking events in Ohio. This weekend is the Rural Society Antique and Garden Show in Mt. Vernon. It should be awesome weather and I am looking forward to finding a few things to finish up my bathroom redo. Check out vendor information on their Facebook page.

The second show is the Springfield Flea Market Extravaganza. I just looked at Sylvia's Vintage Daughter blog http://sylviasvintagedaughter.blogspot.com and she has posted some awesome pictures of things she will be selling at the Springfield show. Please stop by and see her goodies and to read about the specific details of the show. Also stop by http://vintagemarketplacestyle.blogspot.com for information on vendors.

Sprucing Up For Company

Last week we were extremely busy working on getting the house ready to paint. My dad, who is a painting contractor, and my brother came in and painted  the ceilings of every room and the walls of the living room, guest bath and bedroom, master bed and bath. We are working on getting a vintage chandelier rewired and hanging that up in the dining room then taking the ceiling fan and  putting  it up in the guest room. Good grief, all this for a graduation party for which most of the people will not even be inside to see the rooms (unless it rains). Why is it that we drive ourselves crazy getting ready for company when more than likely people either won't see it or remember what the house looked like? It reminds me of an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond when Ray tells Debra that she is trying to create a" fake house". Oh well, I guess it just provides us with the inspiration to do things that need to be done that we just keep putting off.
It will be the same thing when it comes to the food- all the last minute decisions we make about extra food because we are sure we will run out. My sister-in-law calls it kitchen rage. All our family members suffer from that at the holidays or special events.
So today I am going to share the ugly side of getting ready for company. Tearing up the entire house so projects can be completed. Pure chaos but it will get put back together again soon.

Replacing brass knobs on vanity from ones I purchased from Pick Your Plum
