Today Is The Day!

Today is the Day
Today is the day that I officially begin my journey as a blogger so let me begin by telling you a little about myself. I enjoy finding "old" things that are "new" to me. Much to my family's dismay, I then repurpose my new found treasures in my home or work.  My overall goal for this blog is to discuss my adventures for finding "old" and turning it into "new" and to connect with other creative people to continue to generate new ideas for creative inspiration.

 My Background
I have been married to a wonderful man for 31 years and have two active sons. My husband is an academic advisor at a regional campus of a large university and I have been an educator for 29 years. My  master's degree is in speech pathology however, I have served as an educational consultant in special education, administrator and adjunct instructor at a local university.   My oldest is 25 and was married last summer to a beautiful girl that I love dearly. My younger son is 18 and is a senior in high school. He just wrapped up his soccer season however is still busy with choir and orchestra.

My son and his wife have been living with us while she finishes college and to save money for a down payment on a house. She just graduated in December and will begin her first job in a few weeks.Recently they put an offer on a home and we are all anxiously waiting to see if everything" is a go." They have two dogs and we have one dog sooo.... needless to say we have a "full house".

Why Blogging?
Midlife mania?  Yes

Anticipating "empty nest"? Yes

Nothing on TV? Yes

Wanting to learn new skills? Yes

Sharing Ideas with other creative folks? Yes

Just want to have fun?  Yes

My Definition of Old
Really my definition of old is anything dating back to the 70's( which is when I was in high school ... yikes)  to earlier eras. My favorite period is the 1940's which includes wonderful  fashion trends and movies. I get my collecting gene from my dad's side of the family. My grandfather had his garage so full of stuff that you had to shimmy to squeeze in to the old Chevy.

I collect vintage linens, old alarm clocks, books, picnic tins, dishes, radios, enamel flower pins, costume jewelry, buttons, old suitcases, aprons, silverware, women's hats, old stools, boxes, bottles and anything else that catches my eye and is the right price.

Well I hope to be posting pictures of some of my favorite things I have collected over the years soon.
Later,
Cathy
